SW Healthcare has observed that practice nurse training has historically been overlooked and unstructured or patchy at best. We believe that excellence in practice nursing is going to be critical to longer term outcomes and the ability of primary care to respond to the increasing volume of work.
SWCCG has set up a working group to scope the existing knowledge and skills of our practice nurses. SW Healthcare are part of this group and aim to offer a co-ordinated and well publicised schedule of education for our local practice nurses with the information generated. We hope that Professor Veronica Wilkie can support us in the delivery through her involvement with the University of Worcester.
