Written Reflective Accounts

Meeting the requirements:

You must prepare five written reflective accounts in the three year period, referring to, an instance of CPD, feedback, an event or experience in your practice, or a combination of these. Each account should include an explanation of how this relates to the Code.

This requirement will encourage Nurses to engage in reflective practice. Using what they have learnt, they will be able to identify areas for improvement within their practice and consider the role of the Code.

The NMC have provided a form that must be used to record your reflective accounts. You must explain, what you have learnt, how your changed or improved your practice as a result and how this is relevant to the Code. The form can be handwritten, typed or dictated if necessary. Please ensure that your reflective accounts do not contain any information that could identify an individual. A copy of the form does not have to be submitted to the NMC but should be retained as a record, form part of your reflective discussion and as evidence to your confirmer.
